Generally after cloning or upgrade or when a user profile is created with limited access, the user may end up with 2 errors when they login to PeopleSoft application – “Authorization Error — Contact your Security Administrator” and when they hit the X to close it, another error appears: “Menu navigation error. This user doesn’t have access to folder PT_TOOLS_HIDDEN. Contact the portal administrator. (95,136).” This screen also shows: Top Menu Features Description Removal Confirmation? Are you sure you wish to remove this pagelet from your home page? : Yes-Remove No-Do Not Remove. Hitting the No-Do Not Remove button takes you back to the first screen (Authorization error).

In PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 application PIA, the users having the permission list ‘PTPT1000′ can have access to new pagelet Top Menu Features Description’. Sometimes PTPT1000 will be cloned and certain privileges in it would be removed to restrict the user accessing specific pages. In that case, chances of getting Authorization Error in PeopleTools 8.50, 8.51, 8.52 are more. Solution – Map the web library ‘WEBLIB_PT_NAV’ to the cloned permission list and give full access to it.

Menu navigation error is also associated with the permission list ‘PTPT1000′. When a user gets this error on clicking on some folders in PIA, then it should be a security concern with PT_TOOLS_HIDDEN folder. Navigate to PeopleTools > Portal > Structure and Content > Tools-Hidden and click on Security tab where you can find permission lists. Make sure the user’s role is having any of the permission list found in Security tab. The default permission list for PT_TOOLS_HIDDEN folder is PTPT1000.
